When you call

When you call the Tubman crisis help line, a trained crisis staff member will ask you about your situation to find out what you need.

Women wishing to stay at the shelter can expect a safe and friendly environment. You will receive whatever support you need as soon as you walk in the door. You will receive immediate medical assistance, if needed, and we can also help connect you with programs in the community if you need help with mental or chemical dependency problems. When you are ready to move in, you will be assigned to a team of advocates. They will go over some shelter guidelines and get you situated in a room.

Mothers with children can expect to have some childcare provided for your children. There are also support groups for children available. Tubman offers family activities such as art groups for women and your children.

Emergency shelters only serve women and children. We do not have facilities for men. However, Cornerstone Advocacy Services in Bloomington, Minnesota, does house men in its shelter. Their crisis line is 952-884-0330.
